ABS树脂是在聚苯树脂改性的基础上发展起来的三元共聚物。其中A代表丙烯睛、B代表丁二烯、S代表苯。ABS树脂具有三种组份的综合性能、A可以耐油性、耐化学腐蚀性，从而具有一定的表面硬度；B使ABS呈现橡胶态的韧性，了冲击韧性；S使ABS塑料呈现出的流动性，使之具有热塑性塑料成型加工的良能。
ABS塑料在我国主要用于制造仪器仪表、家用电器、电话机、电视机等的外壳及电镀用的ABS塑料，使其赋予金属光泽，ABS用于代替金属。我厂生产的各类型号电冰箱的内胆及各种塑料制品中，ABS注塑制品占电冰箱塑料制品总数的88%以上。

ABS流动性比HIPS差一点，比PMMA、PC等好，柔韧性好；
ABS树脂适用性能：耐液压、 脉冲试验、 导电性能、 水密性 、气密性.生产参数：熔融指数、 粘度、 模具收缩率 、熔融温度等
ABS树脂是产量最大，应用最广泛的聚合物，它将PB，PAN，PS的各种性能有机地统一起来，兼具韧，硬，刚相均衡的优良力学性能。
ABS是无定形材料，流动性中等，吸湿大，必须充分干燥，表面要求光泽的塑件须长时间预热干燥80-90度，3小时；宜取高料温，高模温，但料温过高易分解(分解温度为>270℃)。对精度较高的塑件，模温宜取50-60℃，对高光泽、耐热塑件，模温宜取60-80℃
ABS树脂性能测试是通过自动化的测试工具模拟多种正常、峰值以及异常负载条件来对系统的各项性能指标进行测试。
